Adrian Heathfield - swimming across Dover Harbour
Jon Compson - London Marathon 2012
Adrian Heathfield, a patient at King's, will be swimming 2km (2000 metres) front crawl in Dover Harbour during the Dover Regatta in July 2011. He hopes to complete his swim on 3 July, starting at 2.30pm. What makes this extra special is that Adrian will be swimming while wearing his Taylor Spatial frame. Update on Adrian's training - 30 May:
On 30 May Adrian swam the 2km in the harbour with one of the members of Ashford Triathlon Club.
Adrian said: "The current was against us on the way over and I think I just became tired coming back so it took us a very slow 50 minutes. However, I've never swam over 1800 metres in one go before, with or without a frame, so I am happy. I'm feeling it now though, the waves cut through you a bit!
"It is so good to see people improving as I swam with one of the members I coach at the club on Tuesdays. He hadn't done any open water swimming a month ago, being a bit unsure, but he matched me all the way there and back!"

Fundraising
Adrian hopes to raise money for the trust from well-wishers and supporters donating to his JustGiving page.
"Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure," said Adrian. "Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity."
