Jon Compson - hoping to run the 2012 London Marathon
Jon Compson, consultant orthopaedic surgeon, was hoping to run the 2011 London Marathon in aid of KCH LRT. Sadly a severe sporting injury has meant that he is having to postone this until next year. We wish Jon a prompt recovery. Here he explains why he has decided to run the London Marathon in aid of KCH LRT.
Because of this I was hoping to run in support of the charity and to raise as much as my colleague Mark Phillips did last year. 2011 was going to be my first marathon and I am old (54) and falling apart. Now a sporting injury has delayed my plans for this year, but I hope I can run and finish the marathon in 2012!

Others like me can be found running around Richmond Park in the cold and rain training for the London Marathon. Even the deer seem to question the sanity of all this.
At King's my speciality is reconstruction of trauma to the elbow, wrist and hand. However, despite being only indirectly involved in the Limb Reconstruction Unit, I can understand the importance of its vital role in an area which is often the poor relative when it comes to funding. The advances made in this field need as much support as possible, both in its clinical organisation and in research to improve what are already quite amazing techniques.

The picture shows a very wet me after a 12 mile run last week end (February 2011).
We are very grateful to Jon and wish him success with the run and the fundraising.
