The only charity that caters for the specialist needs of limb reconstruction patients

Matt Strange - relay swim across the Channel

Matt Strange spent three years with his leg in a frame following a nasty accident. He was so grateful to the limb reconstruction team for keeping him going and rebulding his leg that he accepted a very hard challenge.

He is one of three sets of siblings who are aiming to swim the English Channel between 21 and 29 July 2011.

Their training started back in November, and their aim is to raise as much money as possible for two King's College Hospital-based charities that are very close to their hearts: the Liver Transplant Surgical Services (LTSS) and the KCH Limb Reconstruction Trust (LRT)

By early March 2011, they had raised a total of £746.71.

Matt's brother Tim said: "This swim is known as being one of the hardest open water swims in the world. Navigating past a few hundred ships, avoiding jellyfish and battling seasickness whilst on board will be hard, but focusing on what Matt has achieved will make this experience pale into insignificance when it comes to the pain."
