On a crisp 10th December Evening, Reverend Eric and Hilda Heselwood hosted a Carol Concert in aid of the KCH Limb Reconstruction Trust.

Filled with carols, readings and medleys the evening was attended by the Bromley Oecumenical Singers. Many supporters of St Mark’s and KCH Limb Reconstruction Trust packed the beautiful church with standing room only…

The Mayor of Bromley and the Mayor of Southwark were also in attendance and here is our Trustee and Founder Chair, Mark Phillips, with the Mayor of Bromley. Mark also introduced our charity to the congregation and gave an insight into its concept, work and future plans…

The special Concert programme including religious and secular readings by Consultant Surgeons Graeme Groom with St John Chapter 1: verses 1-5 and 9 -14, and Sarah Phillips also Co-chair read a moving 'Merry Christmas'. The Twelve Days of Christmas was explained beautifully by Mrs Hilda Heselwood.
Matt Strange a former limb reconstruction patient kindly read for us a verse from St Luke. Matt and his extended family with Siblings Only have currently raised approximately £20,000 for our charity and a King’s Liver Charity where a presentation will take place very soon at King's College Hospital.

A special treat was soloist Courtney Noakes, currently in full time education, who gave an outstanding performance of O Holy Night and Panis Angelicus.
Refreshments were served to the congregation during the interval which gave time to reflect on the moving things we had heard and to greet others. The second part of the evening was where Reverend Heselwood told the story of the ‘Moving Church’, St Mark’s – brick by brick from Peckham and the man who made this happen “believed”. As our charity is based at King’s College Hospital this was of great interest.
Many children attended the Concert and a few lucky ones also helped Eric to light the advent candles. O Come, all ye faithful worked splendidly for our offertory carol guided by Ann Groom, Penny Hays, Doreen Rowlay and Karen Sherris. The evening was rounded off with mulled wine and mince pies.

We are extremely grateful to Reverend Eric and Hilda Heselwood, pictured here, for arranging this concert in aid of the KCH Limb Reconstruction Trust. The concert, donations and offetory carol made £3,000 for such vital work.

The Trustees would like to thank everyone involved. Also to everyone that helps support our charity to directly benefit the limb reconstruction patients. Pictured here are some of our Trustees: Mark Phillips, Graeme Groom, Tony Bertin, Penny Hays, Sarah Phillips and Karen Sherris with Ian Fleming, Consultant Anaesthetist at King’s College Hospital.
