A group of patients and trustees gathered together in the Atrium of King's College Hospital to hold a cake & book sale for the limb reconstruction patients. It was an amazing couple of days and the event managed to raise £1,405 for the Trust which will go towards vital equipment and services for its patients. Our next sale is 8th and 9th November and we would appreciate any kind donations of books or handmade fayre. Why not get involved? Any contribution of help would be most welcome; with either helping with the stall or selling raffle tickets, you could hear about our work at the KCH LRT charity and hear our plans for the future. If so, please contact us on 0784 157 6084 or via the contact page of our website. Here are some photographs and stories from people we met during the event:

Yemi Agbolade (15) had an accident and was treated by our limb reconstruction team.  Yemi holds the record for the shortest no. of time in a frame at 14 weeks.  Here he is, recovering well, and enjoying his school days.

Here we see Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Graeme Groom, discussing limb reconstruction with Adrian

Mr Graham Pound treated by the limb reconstruction team is due to have his frame removed shortly.  Here you can see Graham modelling our ‘limb reconstruction jean’ with the widening (instructions shown on our website).

Dr Ian Flemming with Miss Sarah Phillips' new medical student

Here we can see Tom playing five a side football broke both his tibia and fibula.  Tom underwent surgery involving 3cm of bone being removed and stretched.  He has had the frame on for three months with a possible 6 to 7 months of treatment expected. Pictured here talking to fellow limb reconstruction patient Graham Pound receiving important practical tips for ‘life with a frame’.

A light hearted moment in-between busy clinics for

Consultant Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon, Mark Phillips,
pre and current patients Laval Piarroux and Adrian Heathfield.

With their help, along with Deborah Bond, Senior Limb Reconstruction Nurse and many others supporting the event in both limb reconstruction and orthopaedics, this event for the KCH Limb Reconstruction Trust was a hit!

In 2012 we would like to give a further insight as to how the money we raise from events like these is spent and the direct effect it has on the limb reconstruction patients

Thank you
