An early morning start in 2011 for Team Cake on 8 and 9th November, trustees and friends gathered in the Atrium at King’s and welcomed supporters to the stall. This resulted in a magnificent £1,552.00 raised for vital limb reconstruction work and treatment for its patients.
The shot below highlights the long and painful treatment the patients we raise funds for go through, however,

the treatment is essential and has the most positive outcomes in nearly all cases.
A lot of preparations go into the handmade fayre which is always very well received and we give our thanks to all of those that support our sales and welcome new ideas…

King’s College Hospital is always bustling with activity and early in the morning you will always find a friendly patient. Here we see Sam Alexandra, a patient of King's upper limb surgeons, supporting the stall.

Our limb reconstruction patient here under the care of our limb reconstruction team and experiencing a poorly healing fracture.

Like many of the patients undergoing treatment he was very supportive to our charity and was also able to give us some positive contacts for possible fundraising.

Above we see the use of the limb reconstruction frame. These conditions can be caused by other factors, here this patient suffered with polio, a highly infectious disease that affects the nervous system. Before vaccines, polio once left many children partially paralysed.

Two limb reconstruction patients talking together can provide essential tips for coping with life with the frame. Here is Adrian Heathfield with a patient of our limb reconstruction team. On our website we also have new information on pain relief.

Adrian, above, has been making great progress since amputation and here we see him with a prosthetic limb.
The arrival of the Fire Brigade and evacuation at lunch time did not stop our sale, as shown here in interested support. We also sold tickets for our Winter Raffle which will be drawn on 21 December 2011 at King’s College Hospital.

Our successful sales since 2008, although a small portion of the work that the trustees carry out, they have become a very important part of our awareness work. We have met some wonderful people going through some very lengthy and arduous treatments, met many delightful supporters and dedicated members of staff at King’s College Hospital.
